Frequently Asked Questions

Organic

Why should I choose organic skin care?

When you use a skin care product, 60% of it will be absorbed into your skin so it's best to choose a pure product that is safe, organic and natural. Organic skin care ingredients are based on botanical plant extracts which have been grown naturally and respectfully without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilisers. Organic skin care products tend to be fresher because the shelf life is shorter and products are made in small batches to ensure quality. Organic skin care does not use synthetic or chemical ingredients as these can cause skin irritation and allergies. Our organic hand-made products are superior in terms of quality, purity and effectiveness.

Why are organic products more expensive than mass-produced products?

Our organic raw materials and botanicals ingredients are more expensive than conventional or mass-produced ingredients because organic agriculture is more labour intensive and it has to conform to more stringent regulations. We use organic and non-GM botanicals which are grown without the use of pesticide and fertilisers.

Safety

Are your products safety tested?

Yes. EU regulations require that a safety assessment is carried out on each product by an appropriately qualified assessor. All of our products have been tested and signed-off by a qualified assessor.

Should I do a patch test before using your products?

All our products are formulated to be gentle but some people do have sensitive skin, so we would recommend that you carry out a patch test prior to your first application

Can I use your products if I am pregnant or nursing?

It's not advisable to use certain essential oils when pregnant or nursing. Please read the cautions on the back of our packaging for clarification on whether or not they are suitable.

Animal Testing

Do you test your products on animals?

No. Absolutely not! We do not conduct any form of animal testing, nor do our suppliers conduct animal testing.

Certification

Why are your products not certified by an organic certification body?

We already use organic raw materials and ingredients from suppliers who have attained certification from the Soil Association in the UK. However when we blend these ingredients we must then get our products certified - we will be doing this in phases as this type of certification requires a large monetary investment in research and development and a large time investment .

Do any of your products carry the Fairtrade Mark?

No, not at present. We do however use raw materials which are sourced from community projects in many parts of Africa. These raw materials are produced through a community trade program, which focuses on community groups who produce goods which are commercially viable and will benefit their community

Environmental

What is your policy on recycling and environmental issues?

We respect our environment by recycling. We try to minimize environmental damage by using packaging that is recyclable. We use glass instead of plastic whenever possible even though it's more costly and more hassle to transport. Much of our production is by hand, without relying on electricity - our electricity usage is 100% green, coming from renewable sources (wind generated power). When we import our raw materials we off-set any carbon emissions by funding renewable energy projects.

What is your policy on sustainability?

We use organic raw materials not just for your health implications but also because they will not be a burden on the environment. We avoid the use of any raw materials grown with the assistance of chemical fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides.

Packaging & Delivery

Do your products have a shelf life?

When will I receive my product order ?

Yes. As we do not use harsh synthetic chemical preservatives, our shelf life ranges from 6 - 12 months. Take care of our products by keeping them away from direct sunlight and damp conditions. When handling our products use clean hands. Our products are hand-made in small batches so that you get a product that is as fresh as possible. We use amber glass bottles because it protects our naturally preserved products from the damaging effects of UV light.

Goods in stock will be dispatched in Ireland within 4-5 days, UK/Europe within 5-8 days, Rest Of World 6-14 days. Customers who order out of stock goods or non-stock items will be notified of their expected dispatch date by e-mail. Deliveries are by general post or by courier service, our courier service requires that the recipient be available to sign for the package so use a delivery address where the above applies. International delivery services are slightly out of our control, in that we cannot guarantee an arrival date once the package leaves Ireland.

What do the symbols on your product packaging mean?

    Open Jar Symbol

This means that our product should be used within 12 months of opening.

    Certified Organic Symbol

This means that we are committed to only using raw materials and ingredients from Certified Organic Suppliers. We will be ourselves seeking organic certification in due course from the Soil Association in the UK (they have the highest standards of certification). At present there are no certification bodies in Ireland that can certify organic cosmetic products.

    Recycling Symbol

This means that we are committed to recycling and making our products as recyclable as possible.
